Part-time Chicagoan, full-time cultural connector — Janelle Vaughn Dowell is the co-founder of New in Ghana Tourism and a media professor at City Colleges of Chicago. Since her first visit in 2018, she’s been drawn to Ghana’s deep history, creativity, and spirit — returning again and again to explore and celebrate its cultural brilliance.
When she’s not teaching or consulting on tourism projects, Janelle is busy curating unforgettable cultural travel experiences — from museum strolls to discovering the boldest local fashion statements. Her passion? Helping travelers, especially from the diaspora, reconnect with Ghana in ways that feel personal, meaningful, and full of style.
